PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tapad Amiga (ranked 24781 p4p, 24574 weight class) and Rico Salvacion (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 24 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tapad Amiga!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 25 - 3, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rico Salvacion!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Frank Dennis and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Amiga shoots in and drives through. Salvacion sprawls well.
Salvacion replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Amiga blocks it well.

Amiga bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Salvacion struggling a bit here.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Salvacion is trying to escape the position but Amiga is controlling the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Amiga working away.
Salvacion might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Amiga haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Salvacion tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Amiga wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Salvacion is not content to let Amiga control the position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

Amiga tries to sprawl but Salvacion drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Salvacion takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Amiga trying to control but Salvacion postures up.
Salvacion keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Amiga controlling the position well.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Salvacion is controlling the pace.
Salvacion is trying to control the action in half guard but Amiga is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Amiga shoots in for a takedown but Salvacion shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Salvacion replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Amiga blocks it well.

Salvacion looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Amiga controlling the position well.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Salvacion slows the pace down in half guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Rico Salvacion dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Salvacion goes for a double leg but Amiga avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Amiga continues to drive forward.

Salvacion drives through with a takedown into guard.
Amiga looking to hit a scissor sweep but Salvacion is one step ahead there.
Amiga is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Amiga is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Salvacion is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Amiga holds on and takes a little breather.
Salvacion is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Amiga trying to control the position here.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Salvacion fails with a takedown attempt.
Amiga thinks about countering with a body kick.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Horrible takedown attempt by Amiga or perhaps it was just good defense by Salvacion, which made it look bad.
Amiga dives in for a single leg takedown but Salvacion sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Salvacion drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Tapad Amiga has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rico Salvacion.
Salvacion has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Amiga after a bit of a struggle.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Salvacion gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Amiga.
Salvacion tries to pull guard but Amiga forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Rico Salvacion showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Salvacion shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Amiga is trying to defend but Salvacion finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Salvacion is just content to waste time from the top position. Amiga takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Amiga has control of Salvacion's left arm, preventing Salvacion from doing any damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Amiga is trying to hold Salvacion in close to prevent damage but Salvacion has managed to pass into half guard.
Salvacion controlling the action here.
Amiga is concentrating on defense, preventing Salvacion from advancing position.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Salvacion looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Salvacion shoots in looking for a takedown. Amiga tries to sprawl out of it but Salvacion keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Amiga manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Amiga throws a quick counter kick to the body but Salvacion avoids it.

Salvacion closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Amiga's guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Amiga is adopting a defensive guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Salvacion stops Amiga from standing up.
Amiga not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Tapad Amiga has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Rico Salvacion is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Amiga looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Amiga pulls Salvacion in close to prevent any damage.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Amiga trying to keep a closed guard but Salvacion is proving a slippery customer.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Rico Salvacion comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Salvacion winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
