Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ricardo Esponosa!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Kotetsu Yama!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Ben Zyskovitsi and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice jab there from Yama.
Esponosa tries to move into range but Yama moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Yama misses with a hook.

Yama is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Let's hope that Yama has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

I really don't envy Esponosa right now.

Yama got a little sloppy there for a moment and Esponosa has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Yama has managed to get both his arms back between Esponosa's legs - danger averted.

Esponosa throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Yama's waist but Yama gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Esponosa off to one side.
Yama throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Esponosa stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

Esponosa closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Yama did well to prevent Esponosa getting side control.
