Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Liwa Kursiwa (ranked 1954 p4p, 23867 weight class) and Cloinis Maximus (ranked 174 p4p, 399 weight class). Cloinis Maximus has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Liwa Kursiwa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Cloinis Maximus!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Dmitry Maklakov and Igor Prikhodko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kursiwa is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Maximus throws a good cross that connects.

Kursiwa forces Maximus back against the cage and clinches.
Maximus misses with an elbow strike.

Kursiwa's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Maximus tries to clinch but Kursiwa is having none of it.
Maximus throws a head kick but Kursiwa moves out of range.
Maximus is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Kursiwa circles away from the clinch attempt.

Kursiwa forces Maximus back against the cage and clinches.

Kursiwa gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Kursiwa is taking a breather. Maximus says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Kursiwa is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Kursiwa decides to stand up.
Maximus tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Kursiwa looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Kursiwa checks the leg kick nicely there.

Kursiwa blocks a head kick by Maximus.
We've been informed that Maximus has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Kursiwa keeps the fight on the outside.
Maximus cracks Kursiwa with a good jab.
Kursiwa keeps the fight on the outside.
Maximus is looking to clinch.
Maximus tries to clinch up.
Maximus misses with a left hand
and Kursiwa counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Kursiwa scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.

Kursiwa darts in and clinches Maximus up against the cage.
Maximus misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Kursiwa.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Kursiwa creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Maximus throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Kursiwa blocks it with crossed arms.
Kursiwa avoids a wild elbow strike from Maximus.
Kursiwa has Maximus pushed against the cage.
Kursiwa takes a shot to the head.

Kursiwa gets control of Maximus's arms and successfully pulls guard. Kursiwa will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Maximus must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kursiwa bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Maximus's guard.

Kursiwa works over Maximus with some ground and pound from guard.

Kursiwa sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Maximus's guard.
Kursiwa winds up and cracks Maximus with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Maximus is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kursiwa won't let Maximus get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

Kursiwa lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Maximus hang on?
Maximus's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Maximus is bucking up trying to escape but Kursiwa cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Kursiwa tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Maximus is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

Kursiwa is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Kursiwa!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:19 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Liwa Kursiwa!
A relieved looking Liwa Kursiwa thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
