This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of London, with a TWGC record of 4 wins and 4 losses; Archimedes Sparbot! And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 3 wins and 5 losses; Vasiliy Kulik!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Leandro Rodrigues and Emerson Jorge.


The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way.

Sparbot tries to keep at a distance but Kulik has taken the fight into the clinch.
Kulik drops down looking for an ankle pick but Sparbot pulls his leg out and moves away.
Sparbot tries to score a power double leg takedown but Kulik sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Sparbot somewhat.
Kulik changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

Kulik clinches with his opponent.
Kulik tries to pull guard but Sparbot won't allow it.
Kulik fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Archimedes Sparbot has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Vasiliy Kulik.

Kulik turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Kulik manages to end up in side control.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A control attempt from Sparbot but he's now mounted!

Kulik wants to take Sparbot's back but he can't do it this time.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Sparbot tries to reverse the position but Kulik maintains control.
Kulik is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Kulik looking to control and managing it successfully.
Sparbot tries to lock up and control but Kulik gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Sparbot tries to improve his position but instead Kulik has taken his back!

You can see the frustration on Sparbot's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

We've been hearing good reports from Sparbot's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Sparbot tries to roll but Kulik sticks to his back.
A bit of a pause in the action here. Kulik controlling the positon.
Sparbot wants to escape the position.
Sparbot trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.

My spies in KFA inform me that Kulik has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Kulik looking to control but instead Sparbot has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Sparbot wants to control but Kulik passes into side.

Sparbot is looking to regain half guard here but Kulik keeps moving and retains side control.
Sparbot gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

Kulik works his foot free and advances to mount.

Sparbot wants to control but Kulik is having none of it.

Sparbot tries to hold on but Kulik postures up.
Sparbot reaches up to try and control the position but Kulik seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Sparbot rolls and tries to escape and now Kulik has his back!

Kulik doesn't have the hooks in and Sparbot manages to turn into his guard.

Kulik wants to improve his position but instead Sparbot has moved into half guard.
Still in half guard, Sparbot seems content to control.
Sparbot is just content to waste time from the top position. Kulik takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Sparbot's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Sparbot's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Sparbot tries to free his leg and advance position but Kulik is retaining full guard.
Sparbot slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Kulik wants to control but Sparbot postures up.

The referee asks Sparbot politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Sparbot prefers to stall for the moment though.

Sparbot is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Kulik's shoulder. That is not cool.
Sparbot tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Kulik is looking for a sweep.

Kulik trying to remain calm as Sparbot controls from the top position.
Kulik is not content to let Sparbot control the position.
Sparbot tries to advance to mount but Kulik instead regains half guard.

Sparbot is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Kulik wants to control but Sparbot is keeping busy.
Sparbot seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Kulik trying to control from the bottom.

And that's the end of the fight!
Kulik wins on points by 25 to 7.
