PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Dustin Levine (ranked 25148 p4p, 3521 weight class) and David Sterling (ranked 0 p4p, 122 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dustin Levine!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, David Sterling!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Daniel Franklin and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Levine changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Sterling tries to avoid it but Levine manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Sterling to the ground. Sterling escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Levine looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

Sterling has taken the fight to the clinch.

Sterling lands a takedown into guard.
Sterling passes Levine's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Sterling decides to return to a standing position.

Sterling shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Sterling was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Sterling is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Levine knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Sterling tries to score with some ground and pound. Levine controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Sterling looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Sterling is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Levine has escaped the position, nice work there.
Sterling trying to control the action but Levine is working from the bottom.

Sterling decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Sterling rushes Levine and presses him up against the cage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Levine drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Come on Sterling - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Levine has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Sterling after a bit of a struggle.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dustin Levine. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Sterling pulls guard successfully.
Sterling is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Sterling is looking to take a break and control but Levine is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Sterling is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Levine taking some punishment here, with Sterling in his half guard.
Levine looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Levine blocking the ground and pound attempt from Sterling.
Sterling has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Sterling not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Sterling decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

Sterling fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Levine sprawls well initially but Sterling persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Sterling looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
It looks like Sterling might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Sterling stands up and beckons Levine to join him on the feet.

Sterling scores with a takedown into Levine's guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

David Sterling dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Sterling takes the fight into the clinch.
Levine changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Sterling fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Sterling forces Levine back against the cage and clinches.

Sterling pulls guard effortlessly.
Levine has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Sterling is looking to cinch up a triangle. Levine throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Sterling's body to avoid the submission. Sterling has instead reached around Levine's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Sterling arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). David Sterling!
