PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tobias Berge (ranked 1439 p4p, 673 weight class) and Damian Tonon (ranked 199 p4p, 101 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tobias Berge!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 13 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Damian Tonon!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Summer Carpenter and Damien Edna.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tonon has taken the fight to the clinch.
Tonon prevents a body shot from Berge.
Berge has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Tonon is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Berge manages to pull guard.
Berge wants to hit a sweep here but Tonon passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Berge there!
Berge really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

Tonon pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Well, if Tonon is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Berge has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Tonon is working away from the top position though.
Berge is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.
Tonon looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Tonon's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Berge is looking for a sweep. Tonon is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Tonon is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Tonon seems to be working for a kimura but Berge defends the submission attempt.
Berge is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at The Jungle Room, so we'll see if he gets out of it.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Tonon is figuring out what he wants to do next.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Tonon moves into full mount! Berge won't be happy about that!
Berge is squirming around, avoiding Tonon's attempts to control the action.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Berge tries to hold on but Tonon pushes him away.
Berge is wriggling around trying to escape.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Tonon fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Berge looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Berge walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Tonon dips to his left and cracks Berge with an uppercut!
Tonon keeps the fight on the outside.
Nice uppercut lands for Tonon. That snapped Berge's head back.

Tonon drives through with a takedown into Berge's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Tonon is taking a breather. Berge says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Tonon looking to break Berge's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Berge remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Tonon will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

Berge drops back looking for a leg! Tonon is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Tonon manages to kick Berge off! Berge jumps back into Tonon's guard.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Tonon holds on and takes a little breather.
