Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Matias H Rees!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Carlos Leonard!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Robert Douchet and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rees gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Leonard scores with a knee to the head.
Rees tries to land a knee to the head but Leonard blocks with his arms.
Leonard lands a left hand.
Rees has a couple of punches blocked by Leonard.
The referee is keeping an eye on Rees - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Rees wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Leonard is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Leonard has Rees pressed against the cage, preventing Rees from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Rees is looking to take this one to the mat.
Leonard working some nice short punches in the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Leonard tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Leonard tries to throw a body punch but Rees avoids it by throwing Leonard back against the cage.
A head punch on the inside from Leonard fails to land.
Leonard tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Rees really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Rees blocks a body shot from Leonard.
Leonard scores with an uppercut up the middle.

Rees pressing his opponent against the cage.
Rees leaning against his opponent.
Leonard throws an elbow but it misses.
Leonard keeps control of Rees as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Rees stalling.
Rees has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Leonard tries to stall but Rees uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Rees pulls guard.
Rees is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Leonard postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Leonard stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Rees falls off balance throwing a combination
and Leonard counters with a slapping leg kick.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Rees closes the distance and clinches.
Leonard doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Rees prevents a body shot from Leonard.
Rees prevents the takedown attempt.
Leonard throws a knee to the head but misses.
Rees is trying to pull guard but Leonard turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Rees wants to break the clinch but can't.
Leonard has Rees pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Rees manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Matias H Rees has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Carlos Leonard.
Leonard is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Rees is keeping busy.
Leonard pushes Rees back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Leonard looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Leonard breaks from the clinch.
Leonard throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Rees.
Leonard displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Rees.
Leonard throws a sloppy head kick and Rees moves out of range easily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Rees throws a head kick that misses.
Leonard lands a high kick!
Leonard steps in with a hook that catches Rees right on the chin and knocks him to the floor! Leonard follows him down with more strikes and that's all she wrote! Rees looks absolutely devastated.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:15 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Carlos Leonard!
An out of breath Carlos Leonard thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
