Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jack Johnson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Joe Goodman!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Chad Campbell and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Goodman misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Goodman tries to clinch but Johnson moves away

and Johnson counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Johnson tries to pass the half guard into mount. Goodman knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Goodman on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Goodman tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Goodman lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Johnson is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Goodman is aware though and is defending well.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Johnson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Goodman doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Goodman manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Johnson is pulling down on Goodman's head. It's preventing any offense from Goodman, at least for the moment.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Goodman shoots in and drives through. Johnson sprawls well.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Johnson leaves Goodman with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Goodman has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Johnson is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

and Johnson counters with a series of strikes. Goodman will be more careful next time no doubt.

Johnson tries to counter with a takedown but Goodman is quick to defend against it.

Goodman closes the distance and clinches up with Johnson, looking for a takedown. Goodman pushes Johnson against the cage but Johnson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Johnson is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Goodman can do to turn this around?

Goodman has Johnson pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Johnson manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Goodman is breathing heavily.

Johnson is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Goodman is defending well for now.

Johnson is trying to pull guard but Goodman has him pressed against the cage.

Johnson has his foot on Goodman's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Goodman works his way back into a safe position though.

Johnson on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Johnson tries to get out of the position.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Johnson holds on and takes a little breather.

Johnson is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Goodman rolls with it to try and escape but Johnson cranks on the arm and Goodman is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
