Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Slon Mamontov (ranked 1250 p4p, 1305 weight class) and Roman Reyes (ranked 177 p4p, 184 weight class). Reyes comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Zack Hemsey - Vengeance kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Slon Mamontov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Roman Reyes!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Columbo Gatti and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reyes lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Reyes smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Mamontov shoots in and drives through. Reyes sprawls well.
Mamontov shoots for a double leg takedown but Reyes sprawls well. He's pushed Mamontov's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
A lazy left from Reyes finds it's target.
Mamontov gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Reyes counters with a straight right hand.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Slon Mamontov. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mamontov has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Reyes.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Reyes closes the distance and lands a one-two.

Reyes leaves Mamontov with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Mamontov takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Reyes jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Mamontov closes the distance and clinches up with Reyes, looking for a takedown. Mamontov pushes Reyes against the cage but Reyes circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Reyes looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Mamontov shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Reyes sprawls well. Reyes wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Mamontov gets slowly back to his feet.

Mamontov walks into a straight right hand from Reyes.
Mamontov shoots in for a takedown but Reyes shows good takedown defense.
Reyes throws a shot from downtown. Mamontov moves away and avoids it.
Mamontov feinted with a counter takedown.
Mamontov looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Reyes is fending him off so far but Mamontov persists. Nope, Reyes circles away and we're back to standing.
Reyes stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
A cross from Reyes lands.
Slon Mamontov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Mamontov fails with a takedown attempt.
Mamontov takes a kick to the side of the head.
Mamontov goes for a double leg but Reyes avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Reyes continues to drive forward.
Reyes lands a knee to the head.
Mamontov tries to pull guard but Reyes forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Reyes misses with a knee strike.

Reyes has the Thai clinch. He lands a big knee to the head and Mamontov goes down! Reyes dives on top of him - Mamontov manages to get guard.

Mamontov is rocked!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Reyes postures up from his opponent's guard, before exploding into some vicious ground and pound! Mamontov covers up, he's hurt! Reyes keeps throwing the strikes, glancing at the referee... Will he stop it?? One more big shot from Reyes and the ref steps in to end the fight! Reyes can't hide his delight as he celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:19 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Roman Reyes!
After the fight, Roman Reyes was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
