PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Drew Williams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Donte Pierre (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Williams comes into the arena with Empire State of Mind-Jay-Z blaring out of the sound system. Donte Pierre will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Drew Williams!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Donte Pierre!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Dean Styles and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Williams drives through and clinches with Pierre against the cage.
Williams looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Pierre misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Williams.
Nice body punch from Pierre.
Knees to the body from Pierre.
Pierre has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Williams avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Williams tries to keep at a distance but Pierre has taken the fight into the clinch.
Williams is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Pierre gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Pierre dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Williams. That did some damage!

Pierre seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Pierre's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Despite being in the dominant position, Donte Pierre just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Pierre scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

Williams is looking to control Pierre's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Williams avoid being mounted?

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Pierre.

Pierre is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Williams wants to improve his position but Pierre is controlling well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Pierre is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Williams is surviving well by controlling Pierre's body position as best he can.
Williams wants to control but Pierre is having none of it.
Williams is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Williams tries to hold on but Pierre pushes him away.
Williams is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Pierre is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Pierre is going olschool here, as he tries to force Williams to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Williams shrugs it off.

Donte Pierre showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Williams is desperately trying to improve his position but Pierre has a good base and remains in mount.
BOOM! Pierre connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Pierre wants to control the pace but Williams is squirming around nicely.
Williams is wriggling around trying to escape.
Pierre content just to control the position here.
The referee warns Williams that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Well Pierre has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
