PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Barrett Simmons (ranked 4369 p4p, 5540 weight class) and Kieran Collymore (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Barrett Simmons has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Barrett Simmons seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fighters circling - Simmons throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Collymore has managed to clinch.

Collymore has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Simmons regains guard immediately.

Simmons is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Collymore gets to his feet - Simmons follows without any prompting.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Simmons looks to land a left hand but Collymore moved out of range nicely.

Collymore tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Simmons defends well and Collymore ends up having to push Simmons into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Simmons throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Collymore sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Simmons clobbers Collymore with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Simmons misses with a wild body shot.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Simmons is defended easily by Collymore.
Collymore closes this distance looking for a takedown but Simmons circles away.
Collymore uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Simmons.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Collymore! But no joy.

Collymore shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Simmons pinned against the cage. Simmons gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Barrett Simmons has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kieran Collymore.
Collymore darts in looking for a takedown but Simmons gets double underhooks and turns Collymore into the cage.
Simmons stuffs the takedown attempt from Collymore. Collymore gets slowly back to his feet.

Collymore fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Simmons avoids it really well and circles away.
Simmons just misses with a punch to the body.
Collymore steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Simmons.

Simmons connects with a body shot that sends Collymore's belly button to the back.

Collymore scores with a sloppy right hand. Simmons should have avoided that one.
Simmons dives in for a single leg takedown but Collymore sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Simmons has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Collymore avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Simmons ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Collymore moves away.
Collymore lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Simmons looks to score with a jab to the body but Collymore is just out of range.

Simmons throws a left that rocks Collymore and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! Simmons dives into side control, looking to finish! Can Collymore regain composure!

This has been an exciting period of action!

Simmons is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Collymore looks calm but he's in trouble here. Simmons gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Collymore is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Simmons lets go of the hold and Collymore can pop his arm back in it's socket.

Barrett Simmons tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
In defeat, Kieran Collymore stepped up to the mic, saying 'Im sorry i promise too improve'.
