PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Justin Midget (ranked 12289 p4p, 24801 weight class) and Yawa Kiang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Justin Midget has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Justin Midget seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 39 - 31 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Justin Midget!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Yawa Kiang!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, George Francis and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Midget misses with a takedown attempt
and Kiang counters with a one-two to the body.
Midget tries for a takedown but Kiang circles away easily
and Kiang counters with a lovely shot to the body.

Kiang drives through with a takedown into Midget's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Midget isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Kiang stacks Midget on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Kiang!
Kiang happy to just control the position for now.
Midget tries to buck Kiang off but Kiang is having none of it.

Kiang is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Midget's shoulder. That is not cool.
Midget is looking for a sweep.
Midget's coaches at Desert Fitness & Training (14 Elite Coaches) have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Midget can't do much from the bottom here.
Kiang just content to control the position.
Midget tries to improve position but can't.

Kiang is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Midget will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Midget could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Kiang is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Midget is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Let's hope that Kiang has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Midget tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Kiang wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Midget can't do much from the bottom here.
Kiang just content to control the position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Midget is looking to regain half guard here but Kiang keeps moving and retains side control.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Yawa Kiang dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!

A solid body kick from Kiang.
Midget is looking to clinch but Kiang is avoiding it.
Kiang is trying to counter with his kicks.

Kiang shoots in and bounces Midget off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kiang is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Midget looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Kiang passes into half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Midget wants to sweep but Kiang has passed to side control!

The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
We're seeing a lot of stalling here from Kiang.
Kiang cracks Midget with a big right hand but Midget just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Kiang in side control, just content to control the action for now.
Kiang has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Midget wants to control but Kiang postures up.
Kiang scores with a couple of short elbows.
Kiang is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

Midget is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Kiang is trying to get an arm triangle but Midget is defending well.
Midget being controlled for a moment.
Kiang works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Kiang content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Midget might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Midget is trying to get back to half guard.
Kiang remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Yawa Kiang showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Kiang changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Midget looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Yawa Kiang comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Kiang has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
