PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between James Vator (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Caio Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, James Vator!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Caio Silva!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Mauricio Rocha and Daniel Cesar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vator doesn't manage to clinch there - Silva circles away.
Vator looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Silva tries to clinch up
and Vator counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Silva.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Silva is defended easily by Vator.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Silva.
James Vator has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Caio Silva.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Silva clinches but Vator breaks the clinch
and Vator counters with a nice uppercut.
Silva should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Silva tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Silva tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Vator paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Silva scores with a one two! Vator had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

Silva gets the takedown into side control.

Silva stands up and beckons Vator to his feet.
Silva doesn't manage to clinch there - Vator circles away.
Vator circles away from the clinch attempt.

Silva feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Silva in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Silva sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Vator's guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Vator on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Silva has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Silva lands a nice shot to the head.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Silva pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
The referee warns Vator that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Silva controlling from the full mount.
Silva can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Vator is looking to escape.
Silva breaks from Vator's wrist control and lands an elbow.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Silva connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Silva looking to control and managing it successfully.
Silva looking to control but Vator is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Silva lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Vator hang on?
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Caio Silva dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Silva tries to close the distance and clinch but Vator swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Silva misses with the combination.
Silva shoots in but no luck this time.

Silva drives through and clinches with Vator against the cage.
Silva prevents Vator from breaking the clinch.
Silva lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.
Silva is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Vator gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Silva lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.

Silva breaks from the clinch.
Silva closes the distance but Vator moves to the side

and Vator counters with a nice double leg into side control. Silva won't be happy with that.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Silva struggling a bit here.
Vator knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Silva on the ground.
Silva is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Vator's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Silva gets back to full guard.
Vator works over Silva with some ground and pound from guard.
Vator has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Silva is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Silva looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Vator seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Vator will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Vator is sitting in close to Silva's body. Silva has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Vator is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Vator is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Silva.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Caio Silva!
