PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joshua Floyd (ranked 1738 p4p, 1135 weight class) and Puncher Face (ranked 85 p4p, 60 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Joshua Floyd!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 10 - 0, fighting out of London, Puncher Face!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Floyd avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Floyd tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Face manages to circle out of the way.
Floyd is trying hard to land a takedown here. Face sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Face looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Floyd shoots in and drives through. Face sprawls well.

Floyd moves into the clinch.
Face makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Floyd stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Face misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Floyd.

Floyd works on Face's body with a couple of short punches.
Face struggles to land a body shot inside as Floyd controls his hands.
Floyd tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Face tries to free his leg and advance position but Floyd is retaining full guard.
Face is looking to stand up but Floyd won't let him.

Face got a little sloppy there for a moment and Floyd has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Face has managed to get both his arms back between Floyd's legs - danger averted.

Face won't allow Floyd to get back to his feet.
Floyd keeping full guard, as Face tries to pass.
Face has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Floyd is proving hard to escape from.
Floyd wants to sweep here but Face controlling him for the moment.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Face wants to clinch.
Face fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Floyd manages to avoid it.

Face gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Face digs a right hand into Floyd's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Floyd's gas tank.
Floyd blocks an elbow strike from Face.
Floyd lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Face or not.
Face scores with a knee to the head.

It looks like Joshua Floyd has been cut.
Face looking to throw knees to the head but Floyd is blocking nicely.
Floyd is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Face pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Face makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Floyd is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Face is defending well for now.
Face misses with the head strike.
Floyd jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Face walks away with a smile on his face. Floyd gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Floyd doesn't succeed with the takedown
enabling Face to counter with a crisp jab.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Floyd.

Floyd fails with a takedown attempt.
Floyd tries to clinch but Face moves out of range.
Face looks like he wants to counter punch here.

Floyd goes for a double leg but Face avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Face continues to drive forward.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Floyd is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Face to keep the fight standing.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Floyd swats away the attempt to clinch by Face.
Floyd takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

Floyd closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Floyd tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Face smiles and moves away.

The fight stays on the outside here - Floyd looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Face is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Floyd with a body shot.
Face stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Face wants it to stay on the feet.
Face's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Floyd connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Face scrambles back to his feet.
Floyd tries to clinch but Face moves out of range.
Face wants to clinch up but Floyd keeps it at a distance.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Floyd rushes Face and presses him up against the cage.
Floyd avoiding damage as Face throws knees to the body.
Floyd jumps guard but Face stands there with Floyd around his waist. Floyd gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Floyd breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Floyd shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Face but Face pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Face swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Face looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Floyd looks for a takedown but Face sprawls well.
Puncher Face is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Face pushes Floyd up against the cage in a clinch.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Face tries to land a knee to the head but Floyd blocks with his arms.
Floyd has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Face avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Floyd doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Floyd manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Face stands up from Floyd's guard - Face perhaps looking for a knockout.

Face fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Floyd, pushing him back against the cage.

And that's the end of the fight!
Puncher Face comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Face winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
