And in the blue corner, fighting out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 2 wins and 6 losses; Diego Hageman!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Alec Ball and Yves DeLean.


The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way.

Ieyasu gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Ieyasu working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Hageman doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Hageman manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Hageman wants to pass the guard but Ieyasu is keeping the position.

Ieyasu had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Hageman defends it easily.

Hageman drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Hageman jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hageman is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Ieyasu is just riding it out for now. Hageman eventually gives up the hold.

Ieyasu is defending against the submission attempts here by Hageman.

Hageman got a little sloppy there for a moment and Ieyasu has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Hageman has managed to get both his arms back between Ieyasu's legs - danger averted.

Hageman stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ieyasu swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Ieyasu is looking to cinch up a triangle. Hageman throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Ieyasu's body to avoid the submission. Ieyasu has instead reached around Hageman's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Ieyasu arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 5:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Toyotomi Ieyasu!
