PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Nico DiAngelo (ranked 2466 p4p, 3261 weight class) and Pilgore Perroni (ranked 295 p4p, 361 weight class). Perroni is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Supafly. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Nico DiAngelo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Pilgore Perroni!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Paul Aken and Paulsen Ambrosius.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
DiAngelo looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
DiAngelo shoots in for a double leg but Perroni sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Perroni displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from DiAngelo.
DiAngelo has been working on his balance at Alpha Brasil, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Perroni.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Nico DiAngelo. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from DiAngelo is defended easily by Perroni.

That's one minute gone in the round.
DiAngelo changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Perroni tries to avoid it but DiAngelo manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Perroni to the ground. Perroni escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Perroni appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick.
A head kick misses from Perroni.
DiAngelo swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Perroni waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract DiAngelo.
A nice leg kick from Perroni, right into the meat of the thigh.
Perroni feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits DiAngelos jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

DiAngelo changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Perroni looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

DiAngelo has an Americana. Perroni didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! DiAngelo is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if DiAngelo hooks up with any of them at the after show party.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:24 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Nico DiAngelo!
Nico DiAngelo gave a mention to Altitude Clothing in his post fight interview. That will please them (and hopefully generate some sales).
Pilgore Perroni spoke after the fight, saying 'Absolute robbery. I will take the next couple of weeks to do mountains of blow with some Tunisian friends of mine and regroup.'.
