The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith misses with a hook. Hampton ducked under it nicely.

Hampton avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Mister Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Smith throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Smith lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

Smith throws out a loose jab but Hampton uses good head movement to avoid it.

Hampton feints and as Smith raises his hands in defense, Hampton changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Hampton connects with a couple of short punches.
Hampton is pushing down on Smith's leg trying to pass to half guard. Smith is fighting to maintain full guard but Hampton has managed to sneak the leg through.
Smith on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Smith tries to get out of the position.
Hampton stops Smith from getting back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hampton lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

Hampton passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Smith!
Hampton is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Smith can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
