Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Salote Shankar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Ratu Maui!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, David Hoff and Bart Greer.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maui throws out a powerful jab.

It looks like Salote Shankar has been cut.
Maui lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Shankar on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Shankar is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Maui feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Shankars jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Maui listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Maui lands the left hand.

Salote Shankar's cut is getting worse.
Maui works the jab nicely.
Maui is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Shankar had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into mush.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Maui scores with a decent looking hook.
Ratu Maui seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Maui feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Shankar sprawling to the canvas! Shankar rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Maui finish him?!

Maui lands a big uppercut and Shankar crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Shankar looks OK. Maui waves Shankar back to his feet!

Salote Shankar's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Shankar walks straight into a right hand from Maui - that's dropped him! Maui jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Shankar from any more punishment! Shankar complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:22 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Ratu Maui!
