PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Englebert Humperdinck (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bums Bi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Englebert Humperdinck!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Bums Bi!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Johanna Lukiainen and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Humperdinck doesn't manage to clinch there - Bi circles away.
Humperdinck lands a nice looking body shot.
Bi swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Bi uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Humperdinck.

Humperdinck throws a leg kick but Bi checks it.
Humperdinck dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Humperdinck throws a push kick but Bi slaps the foot to one side.
Humperdinck ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Bi moves away.

Englebert Humperdinck seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Bi changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Humperdinck looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Bi is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Humperdinck knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Bi is trying to get an arm triangle but Humperdinck is defending well.

Bi is looking to take a break and control but Humperdinck is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Bi is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Bi thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Bi tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Bi has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
You can see the frustration on Humperdinck's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Humperdinck keeps Bi under control for a moment.
Bi throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Humperdinck works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

It looks like Bums Bi has been cut.

Humperdinck throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Bi on the side of the head.
Bi ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Humperdinck moves away.
Humperdinck cracks Bi with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Humperdinck scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Bi doesn't seem bothered though.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Humperdinck throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Bi is keen to just control but Humperdinck is a slippery customer.
Bi thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Humperdinck's head.

That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


Bi throws a shot from downtown. Humperdinck moves away and avoids it.
Bi is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Humperdinck rather than just go for the knockout.
Bi avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Humperdinck throws a leg kick but Bi moved away.
Humperdinck tries to close the distance and clinch but Bi swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Bi pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Bi ducks under a wild hook from Humperdinck.

Bi feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Bi accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Bi passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Bi is working to tighten is grip on Humperdinck's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Humperdinck has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Bi is really squeezing tight and eventually Humperdinck passes out! Bi breaks the hold and jumps onto the ropes to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:03 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Bums Bi!
