PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kalervo Putkonen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Viljo Laine (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kalervo Putkonen looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Laine throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Laine connects with the punch.

It looks like Kalervo Putkonen has been cut.
Laine swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Putkonen shoots in and bounces Laine off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Putkonen could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Putkonen looking to sit in guard and control but Laine gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Laine slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Putkonen has his hands on Laine's head, controlling the position.
Putkonen on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Putkonen tries to get out of the position.
Laine trying to control but Putkonen is working from the bottom.

Laine not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Putkonen is adopting a defensive guard.
Laine wants to get up but he can't break Putkonen's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Laine works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Putkonen trying to control here.
Putkonen is looking for a sweep. Laine is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Laine tries to stand but can't do so whilst Putkonen controls his leg.
Putkonen slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Laine has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Putkonen is proving hard to escape from.
Putkonen is breathing heavily.
Putkonen is controlling Laine's posture.

Laine stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Putkonen swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Laine wants to get up but he can't break Putkonen's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Laine is stalling in the full guard.
Laine won't allow Putkonen to get back to his feet.

Putkonen is working an open guard so Laine takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Laine shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Good standup being displayed there by Laine as he connects with a hook.
Laine fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Putkonen on the side of the head.
Laine walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Putkonen drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! Laine swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Putkonen's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!
