Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 25 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Vicente Escalante!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 25 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Simon Hedegaard!
The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Daniel Blasius and Paulsen Ambrosius.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Escalante lands a really nice looking cross but Hedegaard seems unphased.
Hedegaard throws a sloppy head kick and Escalante moves out of range easily.
Escalante's corner calls for a 1-2. Escalante obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Escalante pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Escalante throws out a powerful jab.
Escalante scores with a leg kick.
Escalante lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Hedegaard shoots in looking for a takedown but Escalante manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Hedegaard's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
It looked like Escalante wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Escalante lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Hedegaard looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Hedegaard shoots in for a double leg but Escalante sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
As Hedegaard backs away, Escalante returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.
Vicente Escalante has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Simon Hedegaard.
Hedegaard shoots in but no luck this time.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Escalante fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Hedegaard on the side of the head.

Escalante lands a big right hand that sends Hedegaard crashing to the mat! Escalante stays standing though and waves Hedegaard back to his feet!
Hedegaard is rocked!
Vicente Escalante seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hedegaard fails with a takedown attempt.

A low kick lands for Escalante.
Escalante throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Hedegaard seems to have recovered his senses.
Escalante lands the left hand.
Escalante throws a nice outside leg kick.
Escalante throws an overhand right that lands on Hedegaard's shoulder, as Hedegaard tries to avoid the shot.
Vicente Escalante is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Escalante connects with a leg kick.
Hedegaard takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Escalante scores with a jab. Hedegaard acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Escalante drops Hedegaard with a huge uppercut! Hedegaard drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes. Escalante is raining down punches and the ref stops the fight! This one is all over!
