Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Krisko Kurtev (ranked 706 p4p, 1922 weight class) and Gary Lineker (ranked 101 p4p, 251 weight class). Krisko Kurtev has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 24 - 29 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Krisko Kurtev!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gary Lineker!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Paul Aken and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kurtev fails in his attempt to clinch.
A combination from Lineker does no damage.

Kurtev moves into the clinch.

Kurtev gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Lineker wants to improve his position but Kurtev is controlling well.
Kurtev is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Lineker felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Lineker controls Kurtev momentarily but Kurtev frees himself.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lineker is controlling Kurtev's posture.
Kurtev lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Lineker is trying to keep Kurtev in close.
Kurtev passes Lineker's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Kurtev thows a huge punch but Lineker dodges it nicely.

Lineker is not content to let Kurtev control the position.
Lineker has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Kurtev is working away from the top position though.
Kurtev looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Lineker with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Kurtev lands a nice short elbow.
Lineker is looking to get back to full guard here but Kurtev has managed to pass to side control instead.
Kurtev cracks Lineker with a big right hand but Lineker just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Lineker can do anything to dispel that myth.

Kurtev wants to control but Lineker is keeping him busy.

The strikes coming from Kurtev are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Lineker is trying to control Kurtev's posture but Kurtev avoids it.
Lineker is looking to reverse the position.
Kurtev in side control, throwing shots but Lineker defends.

Kurtev works to advance to full mount. Lineker defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Lineker seems to have recovered his senses.
Lineker tries to hold on but Kurtev postures up.

Kurtev has hold of Lineker's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Lineker manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Kurtev thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
Lineker wants to hold on but Kurtev pushes him away.
Lineker avoids a series of strikes thrown by Kurtev.

Kurtev working for a guillotine from mount but Lineker is in no mood to give up.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Lineker really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Krisko Kurtev dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Kurtev moves into the clinch successfully.

Kurtev is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Lineker can do to turn this around?
Lineker is looking to control Kurtev's arms but Kurtev gets an underhook and turns him. Now Lineker has his back to the cage.
