Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ryan Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dante Alexandre!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Roger Salmon and Colin Fray.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Smith looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Alexandre with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Well, if Smith is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Smith wants to work for an arm triangle but Alexandre is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Smith takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Alexandre is trying to stand up here but Smith is controlling him well.
Smith winds up and cracks Alexandre with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Smith lands with a punch from half guard.
Smith is nestled in close to Alexandre, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Smith looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Alexandre is trying to stand.
Smith has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Alexandre really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Smith. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Smith escapes and gets back to his feet.
Smith lands a nice shot to the body.
Alexandre looks winded!
Smith throws a head kick but Alexandre moves out of range.
Alexandre gets a clinch.
Alexandre tries to throw a body punch but Smith avoids it by throwing Alexandre back against the cage.
Smith jumps guard but Alexandre turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
Alexandre tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Smith jumps guard but Alexandre stands there with Smith around his waist. Smith gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Both fighters working to control the clinch.

Smith is looking for a takedown.

Alexandre has Smith pressed against the cage, preventing Smith from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Our sources have told us that Smith has been working on his knees in the buildup to the fight.
Smith is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Alexandre to keep the fight standing.
Smith wants to get back to striking at distance but Alexandre won't allow it.
Smith blocks an uppercut.
Alexandre managing to block the knees to the body from Smith.
Alexandre swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Alexandre keeps control of Smith as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Smith blocking some punches.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Alexandre stops a takedown attempt from Smith.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Alexandre.
Alexandre lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Smith backwards.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Ryan Smith dominated that round.
That's time! Smith's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
The fighters circling - Smith throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Smith gets a clinch.
Alexandre pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Alexandre misses with a punch on the inside.
Smith tries to circle away but Alexandre has him pinned against the cage.
Smith is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Alexandre can do to turn this around?

With the fighters up against the cage, Alexandre throws an elbow but misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Smith has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Alexandre clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Alexandre is trying escape back to his feet. He turns into his opponent's guard and eventually finds his way back to his feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Smith swats away the attempt to clinch by Alexandre.
Smith tries to counter with a takedown but Alexandre is quick to defend against it.

Alexandre is looking to clinch but Smith is avoiding it.
Smith looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Alexandre is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Smith dives into side control.
Smith working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Alexandre tries to escape but Smith is in control.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.

Smith's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Smith cracks Alexandre with a big right hand but Alexandre just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Alexandre can do anything to dispel that myth.
Smith has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Smith dives in and scores a takedown into Alexandre's guard.
Alexandre is wriggling around but Smith manages to pass to half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Smith is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Smith perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Smith works his way into full mount!
Alexandre is trying to stand but he's not in a good position to be doing that! Smith has taken his back!
That's four minutes gone in the round.
Smith controls the position.
Smith is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Alexandre has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Smith has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Alexandre taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Smith doesn't care though - he's delighted!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:48 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Ryan Smith!
Ryan Smith was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
