Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Gary Oak (ranked 3993 p4p, 3941 weight class) and Vinus Validus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Validus gets caught flat footed, as Oak shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Oak connects with a couple of short punches.
Oak pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Validus is keeping the position for now.

Oak gets to his feet - Validus follows without any prompting.

Oak fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Validus sprawls well initially but Oak persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Oak takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Oak slows the pace down in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Oak has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Oak's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Oak decides to return to a standing position.

Oak shoots in and bounces Validus off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Oak in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Validus tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Oak!
