Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dave Miller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Emilo Chavez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Miller comes to the cage accompanied by Drowning Pool - Step Up. Chavez has chosen Slipknot---Psychosocial as his entrance music. Emilo Chavez acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Dave Miller!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Emilo Chavez!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Emerson Jorge and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Miller tries for a takedown but Chavez sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Miller takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Miller throws a leg kick that misses.
Miller throws a series of punches but Chavez moves out of range.
Miller fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Miller slips a straight right by Chavez.
Chavez avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Dave Miller seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Chavez looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Miller is fending him off so far but Chavez persists. Nope, Miller circles away and we're back to standing.
Chavez slips a jab and a cross from Miller.
Miller throws a right hand that Chavez ducks under and follows up with a left that Chavez also avoids with ease.

Miller decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Chavez tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Miller thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Nice strikes from Miller there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Chavez slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Miller trying to control the position from guard on top but Chavez is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Miller tries to stand but Chavez is controlling from the bottom.

Chavez had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Miller is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Chavez Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Miller's back instead.

Miller defending nicely against the rear naked choke attempt.
Miller controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position.
Miller covering up well and avoiding damage.
Chavez connects with a series of strikes and the referee is calling for Miller to escape the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Even with his hooks in, Chavez manages to miss with strikes from the back.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Chavez is looking for the choke from the back position but Miller is controlling his hands well.
Miller turns into Chavez and is now in his guard.
Miller working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Miller has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Chavez is proving hard to escape from.
Chavez is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Miller is breathing heavily.
Miller has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Chavez is working away from the top position though.

Chavez is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Miller defends it well.
Chavez has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Miller tries to kick Chavez off but Chavez keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Miller has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Chavez is working away from the top position though.
Chavez drops an elbow to the side of Miller's head.
Miller trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but Chavez manages to pass to mount!
Chavez landing strikes, looking to finish!
Miller keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Miller is working hard here to advance position.

Chavez wants to finish this one by submission but Miller is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Chavez.
Chavez won't let Miller get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

Chavez is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Miller has managed to escape the submission attempt.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Miller wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Chavez.
Chavez won't let Miller get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
Miller is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Chavez swings around for an armbar and he's got it! Wow, that came out of nowhere! What a finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Emilo Chavez!
