Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Alpha Alien (ranked 4057 p4p, 4259 weight class) and Sideways Pete (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Alpha Alien has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alien misses with a takedown attempt - Pete sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Pete darts in and clinches Alien up against the cage.
Alien blocks an elbow strike from Pete.
Alien is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Pete to keep the fight standing.
Pete stops a takedown attempt from Alien.

Pete misses with an elbow over the top.
Alien tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Pete just stands there and leans against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Alien tries to break the clinch but Pete is controlling the position.

Pete closes the distance and pushes Alien back into the cage.

A frustrated look appears on Alien's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Pete keeps control of Alien as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Alien wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Alien has had enough of the clinch but Pete keeps him there for the moment.

It looks like Alpha Alien has been cut.
Alien jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Pete walks away with a smile on his face. Alien gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Pete creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.

Alien is trying to pull guard but Pete turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Pete pushes off an throws an elbow but Alien leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
Alien has Pete pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Pete manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Alien just leaning against Pete, taking a breather.

Alien pulls guard.
Pete slips nicely into half guard, despite the strikes coming from Alien.
Alien holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.

Alien is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Pete keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.

Sideways Pete seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far.
Alien tries to break the clinch but Pete is controlling the position.

Pete keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Alien's efforts to push away.

Alien tries to score a body lock takedown but Pete shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Pete prevents Alien from breaking the clinch.
Pete misses with an elbow strike.
Alien lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
We are yet to see a takedown attempt from Pete in the fight. On paper you would think he is the more dominant ground fighter so let's see if these unusual tactics pay off.

Jeez, Alpha Alien's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.
