PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Benji Torres (ranked 1104 p4p, 1087 weight class) and Iner Raledran (ranked 155 p4p, 151 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Benji Torres!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 9 - 2, fighting out of New York, Iner Raledran!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Sam Margolis and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Raledran ducks right into an uppercut from Torres.
Torres misses the jab.
Torres throws a lazy right hand but Raledran sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Raledran swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Torres throws a right hand that misses
and Raledran counters with a stiff right hand.

It looks like Benji Torres has been cut.
Raledran displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Torres throws out the jab.
Raledran raises up his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.
Torres looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Torres listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Torres rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Raledran counters with a thumping low kick.

Raledran moves into range and clinches up with Torres.
Torres misses with a punch to the body.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Raledran goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Torres doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Torres has a couple of punches blocked by Raledran.
Torres lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Torres tries to work over Raledran's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Torres swings wildly with an uppercut but Raledran uses good head movement to avoid it.
Torres swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Torres scores with a hook to the body.
Raledran is looking to take this one to the mat.
Torres misses with a body punch.
Torres fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Torres working aggressively here.
Torres lands a body shot in the clinch.
Torres makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Torres tries a body shot but Raledran blocks it.
Raledran blocks a punch to the side of the head.

Raledran manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Raledran has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Torres can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Torres pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Raledran is keeping the position for now.
Torres won't allow Raledran to sweep him here.
Raledran lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Raledran pushes down on Torres's leg and manages to get into half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Raledran has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Raledran pushing the pace here, looking to move to his opponents back and work for a finish.
Raledran content just to control the position here.

Raledran goes for an armbar but Torres turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Torres.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Torres controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Raledran is looking for a triangle but Torres pushes his legs off easily.
Raledran wants to sweep here but Torres controlling him for the moment.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Raledran has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Torres doesn't defend quickly enough and Raledran has managed to lock this one up! Can Torres escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Raledran on a fantastic submission victory.
