This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of London, with a TWGC record of 3 wins and 8 losses; Ray White! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Montreal, with a TWGC record of 2 wins and 3 losses; John Lake!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way.
White shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Lake napping and manages to drive through into side control! Score +4 for clean takedown past guard: White (4) vs (0) Lake
White definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
White tries for a kimura but Lake is defending well.
White thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Lake is not content to let White control the position.
White is working to tighten his grip on Lake's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Lake has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but White is really squeezing tight and eventually Lake passes out! White breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

After the fight, Ray White was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly. |
