PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Shen Po (ranked 962 p4p, 995 weight class) and Vernon Creed (ranked 133 p4p, 139 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Po might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Ei-tetsu Hayashi & 木下伸市. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, James Glass and Chris Edwards.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Creed scores with the left hand. Po knows he should have avoided that one.
Creed with a nice calf kick.
Po cracks a nice hook into Creed's ribs.
Creed drops his hands momentarily and Po takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Po misses with a left hand
and Creed counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Creed slips under a jab from Po.
Po scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Creed fails to land with a series of punches.
Shen Po seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Po throws a jab but it's blocked by Creed.
Creed looks like he wants to counter punch here.
A punch lands to the side of Po 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Creed moves out of range as Po strikes.
A little jabbing left from Creed on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.

Po takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Po throwing a counter right hand but Creed manages to avoid it.
Po throws a hook to the side of Creed's head but Creed sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Po takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Creed misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
A head punch on the inside from Po fails to land.
Creed prevents a body shot from Po.
Creed doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Po working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.

Creed throws a head punch that misses.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Po has a couple of punches blocked by Creed.
Creed throws a punch but it's blocked by Po.

Po turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Po manages to end up in side control.
Creed is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Po is controlling him well.

Po tries for a kimura but Creed is defending well.
Po has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.

Creed throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!
Creed takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

and Creed counters with a three punch combo that has Po backing up. Po nods at Creed to acknowledge the strikes.

Po throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Po misses with a hook. Creed ducked under it nicely.
Creed throws a front kick aimed at Po's knee but Po avoids it well.

Po swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

and Creed counters with a stiff right hand.
Creed swings for the body but Po moves out of range.

Po is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
Po throws a body shot but no joy.

Po scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Creed is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Po is looking to take a break and control but Creed is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Creed wants to get back to his feet.

Po has hold of Creed's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Creed seems comfortable defending it but Po has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Creed is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Creed is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Po couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:21 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Shen Po!
After winning the bout, Shen Po thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
