PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Eric Fassett (ranked 4767 p4p, 24590 weight class) and Brick Bronson (ranked 233 p4p, 269 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Bronson's choice of entrance music: Pink Floyd - Another Brick in the Wall. Brick Bronson will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fassett misses with a hook. Bronson ducked under it nicely.
Bronson dives in and grabs Fassett's left leg, looking for a takedown. Fassett pushes down on Bronson's head and hops out.
Fassett lands a nice hook to Bronson's body. Bronson takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Fassett throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.

Fassett just misses with a punch to the body.
Bronson wants to clinch up but Fassett keeps it at a distance.
Fassett throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Bronson tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

and Fassett makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Fassett jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Bronson is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Bronson and Fassett has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Bronson tries to roll over but Fassett keeps him under control.

We've been informed that Bronson has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Fassett passes into side control, despite Bronson's attempt to control the position.
Fassett remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
