PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Teddy Dingle (ranked 4037 p4p, 5399 weight class) and Bob Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jones is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by The Joker - Steve Miller Band. Dingle has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Teddy Dingle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Bob Jones!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Dean Styles and Columbo Gatti.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jones closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Dingle to the mat! Dingle manages to get full guard.
Dingle is breathing heavily.
Jones tries to free his leg and advance position but Dingle is retaining full guard.

Dingle is working an open guard so Jones takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Jones fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Dingle, pushing him back against the cage.

Jones has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Dingle is trying to keep an underhook but Jones manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Dingle tries to get to full guard but Jones has control of the leg.

Jones stands up from half guard.

Jones pushes Dingle up against the cage in a clinch.
Jones wants to get back to striking at distance but Dingle won't allow it.
Jones is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Jones wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Dingle has him pressed against the cage.
Dingle tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Jones avoids it.
Dingle is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Jones is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Dingle is defending well.

Jones breaks the clinch.
Jones scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

It looks like Teddy Dingle has been cut.
The fight stays on the outside here - Jones looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Jones bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Jones thumps Dingle with a low kick.
Teddy Dingle is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Jones is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Dingle's half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Jones winds up and cracks Dingle with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Dingle wants to get back to full guard.
Jones seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Jones takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
It looks like Jones might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Jones decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

Jones shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Dingle's guard.
Jones lands a couple of elbows.
Jones engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Let's hope that Jones has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Dingle definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Jones is continuing to stall.

Dingle gets caught flat footed, as Jones shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Jones has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Jones stands up and waves to Dingle to follow him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jones lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Jones dives in and grabs Dingle's left leg, looking for a takedown. Dingle pushes down on Jones's head and hops out.
Jones takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?

Jones closes the distance and clinches.
Dingle is pressed up against the cage. Jones has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Dingle down to the mat. Dingle avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Jones shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jones gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Jones shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Dingle manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

We've been informed that Jones has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Jones gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Jones clinches.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Jones avoiding damage as Dingle throws knees to the body.

Jones breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Jones scores with a takedown into Dingle's guard.
Dingle looking to hit a scissor sweep but Jones is one step ahead there.
Jones is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Dingle is trying to keep Jones in close.
Jones is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Jones's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Jones decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Dingle, up you get!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Dingle takes one to the side of the head.
Dingle fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Jones checks it well.
Dingle takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Jones throws a right and a left that Dingle avoids nicely.
Jones tries to close the distance and clinch but Dingle swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Jones goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Jones throws a series of punches but Dingle moves out of range.

Jones closes the distance and clinches.
Jones wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Bob Jones showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Jones lands with a straight right. Dingle didn't see that one coming.
Jones ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Dingle moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
A decent looking cross lands there for Jones.

Jones shoots in and bounces Dingle off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Dingle seems a little lost for a moment, as Jones dominates the positioning.

Jones decides to stand up, so the ref orders Dingle to his feet.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Dingle enables Jones to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Dingle manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Jones stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dingle swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Teddy Dingle has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Jones controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Jones stands up from Dingle's guard - Jones perhaps looking for a knockout.

Jones shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Dingle napping and manages to drive through into side control!
A lull in the action here.
Dingle is looking to regain half guard here but Jones keeps moving and retains side control.
Dingle trying to remain calm as Jones controls from the top position.

Dingle is trying to control Jones's posture but Jones avoids it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jones remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Dingle is looking to reverse the position.
Jones controls the position.
Dingle is trying to improve his position.
Jones is staying tight to Dingle's torso, preventing him from escaping.

Jones decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Bob Jones is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Dingle pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Jones shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Jones showed some decent athleticism there.
Dingle trying to get back to full guard but Jones takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!
Dingle is trying to escape the mount.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
We're seeing a lot of stalling here from Jones.
The adventures of Jones the control monster continue. Boring.

Well Jones has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
