PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jach Bresnar (ranked 2380 p4p, 2104 weight class) and Ger McDonnell (ranked 310 p4p, 279 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Jach Bresnar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Ger McDonnell!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, James Glass and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A shot to the body from Bresnar misses
and McDonnell counters with a stiff right hand.
Bresnar has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Canadian Combat Academy in the buildup to the fight.
Bresnar fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
McDonnell misses the jab.
Bresnar uses good head movement to avoid the hook from McDonnell.
McDonnell works Bresnar's body with a nice hook.

We've been informed that McDonnell has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.

Bresnar has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from McDonnell finds it's way round the side to connect with Bresnar's head.

and Bresnar counters with a single leg into guard. McDonnell didn't expect that.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

McDonnell lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

I would just about give that final round to Ger McDonnell.
I've got McDonnell winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
