PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between The Devils Outlaw (ranked 1922 p4p, 1275 weight class) and Drew Barnes (ranked 214 p4p, 145 weight class). Outlaw comes to the cage accompanied by Moonshine Bandits For The Outlawz. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 29 - 12 - 0, fighting out of New York, The Devils Outlaw!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Drew Barnes!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Percy O'Donnell and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barnes ducks under a wild hook from Outlaw.
Outlaw blocks a low kick nicely.
Outlaw looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Barnes avoids the head kick by Outlaw.
A slow jab from Outlaw misses its intended target.
Outlaw scores with a nice strike.

It looks like Drew Barnes has been cut.
Outlaw is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Barnes.
Barnes lands with a straight right. Outlaw didn't see that one coming.
The Devils Outlaw seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Barnes tries to land a leg kick but Outlaw saw it coming and moves away.
Barnes moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.

Outlaw steps into range and cracks Barnes with a monster punch that buckles his knees! Barnes flops backwards and Outlaw dives into his guard looking to finish!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Barnes lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Barnes trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Barnes looking to pass the guard.
Outlaw avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Barnes stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Outlaw swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Barnes trying to control but Outlaw is working from the bottom.
Barnes sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Outlaw's guard.
Barnes is looking to take a break and control but Outlaw is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Barnes thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Barnes throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Barnes thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Outlaw's head.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Barnes lands a nice short elbow.
Barnes has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Barnes is pressing down on Outlaw's thigh, looking to free his foot. Outlaw is holding on for now.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Barnes connects with a nice short shot to Outlaw's temple.
Barnes thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Outlaw's head.
Barnes wants to pass the guard but Outlaw is defending well.

Barnes wants to advance to full mount but Outlaw doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.

Barnes content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Barnes trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Barnes loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Outlaw preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Outlaw utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Barnes postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Outlaw is looking to stand up but Barnes isn't so interested in that idea.
Barnes trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Barnes is looking to work some ground and pound but Outlaw has wrist control.
Barnes advances position into side control!

Barnes misses with an attempted head punch from side control.

Barnes looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Outlaw is avoiding damage well.

Barnes working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Barnes throws an elbow but Outlaw slips to the side and avoids it well.
Barnes is looking to take a break and control but Outlaw is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Outlaw throws a hook but Barnes blocks it.
A jab from Barnes finds it's way through Outlaw's defenses.
Look low, kick high! Outlaw uses the oldest trick in the book to send Barnes tumbling to the canvas, in a truly brutal knockout! Outlaw is absolutely delighted - when Barnes wakes up, I doubt he'll be quite so happy!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:13 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). The Devils Outlaw!
An out of breath The Devils Outlaw thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
