Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Bill Oddie (ranked 4228 p4p, 4229 weight class) and Keith Chegwin (ranked 454 p4p, 455 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 1 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Bill Oddie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Keith Chegwin!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Dillan Fox and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Oddie shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Chegwin working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Oddie doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oddie manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Oddie drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Oddie jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Chegwin is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Chegwin tries to roll over but Oddie keeps him under control.
Chegwin makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Chegwin.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Chegwin can do anything to dispel that myth.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Chegwin bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Oddie's guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Chegwin accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Chegwin got a little sloppy there for a moment and Oddie has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Chegwin has managed to get both his arms back between Oddie's legs - danger averted.

Oddie is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Chegwin defends well.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Chegwin won't allow Oddie to sweep him here.

Oddie can't keep his opponent in guard - Chegwin advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Oddie wants to get back to full guard.
Chegwin takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Chegwin is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Oddie wants to improve his position but Chegwin is controlling well.

Chegwin throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Chegwin is working for a submission of some sort.
Chegwin working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Oddie tries to get to full guard but Chegwin has control of the leg.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Oddie is defending against the submission attempts here by Chegwin.
Oddie wants to get back to full guard.
The fighters are battling for position here. Oddie manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Oddie wants to sweep but no luck.
Oddie is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.


Chegwin is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Oddie pulls his head out easily.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Bill Oddie.
Well Oddie has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
