PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Edvard Matiae (ranked 2317 p4p, 2322 weight class) and Islam Ali (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Edvard Matiae!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Islam Ali!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Valeri Chadov and Aleksei Zolotukhin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ali takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Matiae staying out of range there.
Edvard Matiae seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Matiae throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Ali stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Matiae blocks a leg kick.
Ali throws a leg kick but Matiae sees it coming and moves out of range.
Ali tries to close the distance and clinch but Matiae swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Ali swings widly with a right hand
and Matiae counters with a nice uppercut.
Ali takes one on the button.

It looks like Islam Ali has been cut.
Ali steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Matiae.
Ali swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Matiae definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Matiae throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Matiae cracks Ali with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Ali on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Matiae smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.

Ali is rocked!
Matiae throws a pinpoint strike between Ali's hands that connects right on the jaw and sends Ali crashing to the floor! He's out before he even hits the mat and Matiae scores a great knockout victory!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Edvard Matiae!
