PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jackson Allen (ranked 4304 p4p, 5826 weight class) and Lee Shayworth (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jackson Allen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Lee Shayworth!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Chad Campbell and Columbo Gatti.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Allen lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Allen misses with a takedown attempt - Shayworth sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Shayworth shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Allen as he jumps to the side.
Allen fails with the takedown
and Shayworth counters with a series of strikes. Allen will be more careful next time no doubt.
Allen tries to clinch there but Shayworth circles away.
Shayworth scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Shayworth scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Allen keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Shayworth connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Shayworth displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Allen.

Allen instigates a clinch.

Shayworth's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Shayworth tries for a takedown but Allen sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Shayworth takes a swing at Allen's ribcage but misses.
Allen appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Shayworth changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Allen tries to avoid it but Shayworth manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Allen to the ground. Allen escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
A slapping leg kick lands for Shayworth.
Shayworth lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Allen circles away quickly and effectively.

Allen clinches up against the cage.

Allen's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Allen pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Allen stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Allen wants it to stay on the feet.
Shayworth looks winded!
Allen tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Allen closes the distance and clinches up with Shayworth, looking for a takedown. Allen pushes Shayworth against the cage but Shayworth circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Shayworth enables Allen to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Shayworth manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Shayworth is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Shayworth is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Allen is aware though and is defending well.
Allen's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Shayworth ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Shayworth no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Lee Shayworth will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Allen closes this distance looking for a takedown but Shayworth circles away.
Allen steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Shayworth. That one must have hurt.

Shayworth shoots for a double leg takedown but Allen sprawls well. He's pushed Shayworth's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Allen dives in and grabs Shayworth's left leg, looking for a takedown. Shayworth pushes down on Allen's head and hops out.

Allen drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Shayworth gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Shayworth jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Allen walks away with a smile on his face. Shayworth gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Allen gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Jackson Allen has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Lee Shayworth is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Jackson Allen showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Shayworth has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
