PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ingo Szopa (ranked 2142 p4p, 2696 weight class) and Kevin Jensen (ranked 269 p4p, 342 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ingo Szopa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kevin Jensen!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Chad Campbell and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Szopa closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Jensen quickly recovers to half guard.
Jensen makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Jensen.

Szopa avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Jensen controls Szopa momentarily but Szopa frees himself.
Szopa content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

Jensen throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Szopa chips away with some ground and pound.
Szopa has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Jensen not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Jensen looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jensen wants to get back to his feet but Szopa is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jensen is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Szopa defends well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Szopa slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Szopa controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Jensen is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Szopa working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Jensen's head.
Jensen throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Jensen is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Szopa is controlling him.
Jensen looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Szopa puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Jensen is trying to stand back up but Szopa is controlling him
Szopa winds up and cracks Jensen with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Szopa is nestled in close to Jensen, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Szopa drops an elbow to the side of Jensen's head.
Szopa seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Szopa passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Jensen!

Jensen is rocked!
Oooooh, big shot lands for Szopa! Jensen is hurt baaadly! Szopa is firing away with more strikes - Jensen is covering up... the ref is warning him to do something. He's just covering up though still and the ref has to step in to end the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:53 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ingo Szopa!
Ingo Szopa seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
In defeat, Kevin Jensen stepped up to the mic, saying 'congrats to my opponent. I'll work harder and be back stronger next time.'.
