Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gregory Motts (ranked 318 p4p, 275 weight class) and Zheko Melondov (ranked 9 p4p, 7 weight class). Melondov is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Exploration of Space by Cosmic Gate. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Timothy Bukovac and Percy O'Donnell.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Melondov tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Motts was well out of range. Poor timing from Melondov.
Motts is looking to counter punch.
Melondov throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Melondov has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Motts finds it's way round the side to connect with Melondov's head.

It looks like Zheko Melondov has been cut.
Melondov lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
A slow jab from Motts misses its intended target.
Melondov throws out a loose jab but Motts uses good head movement to avoid it.

Melondov looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.

and Motts connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

We've been informed that Melondov has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.

Melondov lands a big right hand that sends Motts crashing to the mat! Melondov stays standing though and waves Motts back to his feet!
Oh Motts is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Motts misses with a lunging right hand
and Melondov counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Motts is breathing heavily.
Melondov fires a straight punch through the middle that cracks Motts square on the jaw! Damn, Motts is out cold on his feet and topples face first to the canvas! Wow, I haven't seen a knockout that brutal in a long time!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:14 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Zheko Melondov!
Zheko Melondov decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
