Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Punchy Cartwright (ranked 568 p4p, 1400 weight class) and Genji Kamogawa (ranked 85 p4p, 203 weight class). Cartwright's entrance music is A Pound of Flesh. A fine choice. Kamogawa has chosen The Veer Union - Bitter End as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Punchy Cartwright!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 14 - 0, fighting out of London, Genji Kamogawa!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, James Glass and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cartwright misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
A little jabbing left from Kamogawa on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Genji Kamogawa seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Cartwright drops Kamogawa with a left and a right! Oh, Kamogawa is hurt - Cartwright dives into side control looking to finish!

It looks like Genji Kamogawa has been cut.
Cartwright working away.
Cartwright will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Cartwright looking to control but instead Kamogawa has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard.
Kamogawa keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Cartwright prevents Kamogawa from improving his position.
Cartwright is keen to just control but Kamogawa is a slippery customer.
Kamogawa avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Cartwright.
Cartwright seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Kamogawa does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Cartwright lands with a punch from half guard.
Cartwright lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Cartwright thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Cartwright slips a nice elbow through Kamogawa's hands, connecting with Kamogawa's forehead.

Cartwright is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Kamogawa sees it coming and defends easily.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Cartwright connects with a nice short shot to Kamogawa's temple.

Cartwright throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cartwright is looking to take a break and control but Kamogawa is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kamogawa keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Cartwright is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Cartwright throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Cartwright lands a nice short elbow.
Cartwright looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Kamogawa with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Kamogawa is doing well to control the position and prevent Cartwright from advancing to side control.

Kamogawa regains full guard. Nicely done.
Cartwright slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
The strikes coming from Cartwright are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kamogawa gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Cartwright misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Cartwright throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.

Cartwright goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Kamogawa turns into him and now he's in Cartwright's guard.

Cartwright is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Cartwright has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Kamogawa is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Cartwright.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Cartwright sneaks back into half guard.

Kamogawa content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Kamogawa is continuing to stall.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Punchy Cartwright dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Genji Kamogawa's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Kamogawa stuffs the takedown.
Cartwright lands a glancing blow to the side of Kamogawa's head.
Cartwright looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
We are yet to see a takedown attempt from Kamogawa in the fight. On paper you would think he is the more dominant ground fighter so let's see if these unusual tactics pay off.
A punch combination from Kamogawa misses.
Cartwright connects with a body shot that sends Kamogawa's belly button to the back.
Cartwright cracks Kamogawa with a hook to the temple - Kamogawa is on wobbly legs here! Cartwright swarms him with hook after hook, landing with each one! Kamogawa falls to the canvas face first and the referee dives in to stop the fight! Cartwright wins by TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:17 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Punchy Cartwright!
