PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Zheko Melondov (ranked 690 p4p, 864 weight class) and Damien Hawthorne (ranked 32 p4p, 19 weight class). Melondov comes to the cage accompanied by Exploration of Space by Cosmic Gate. Hawthorne has chosen Schism by Tool as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. On his way into the cage it seems that Zheko Melondov has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Zheko Melondov seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Good work by Melondov as he checks the leg kick.
Hawthorne slips a straight right by Melondov.
Hawthorne looks to land a right hand but Melondov moved out of range.
Hawthorne scores with a hook to the body. Melondov takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Melondov throws a series of punches but Hawthorne avoids them all with ease.
Hawthorne connects with a good right hand that stumbles Melondov. Melondov circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Hawthorne swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Melondov counters with a straight right hand.
Hawthorne misses with an uppercut.
Melondov stuns Hawthorne with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Melondov scores with a head kick.

and Melondov counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Hawthorne thinking.

Melondov swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.

Hawthorne fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Melondov has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Melondov moves out of range as Hawthorne strikes.

Hawthorne has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
A bone on bone clash there as Melondov blocks the leg kick.
Hawthorne throws a hook but Melondov avoids it easily.
Melondov swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Hawthorne feints and then cracks Melondov's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Melondov down.
Hawthorne swings away with a body shot that misses
and Melondov counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Hawthorne clobbers Melondov with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Melondov throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Hawthorne throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Melondov counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Hawthorne, as that shot connected.
Hawthorne throws out a powerful jab.
We've been told by Melondov's head coaches at House of 1000 Corpses that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Hawthorne misses with a telegraphed body shot

and Melondov counters with a crisp right hand that drops Hawthorne! Melondov lets Hawthorne back up to his feet, looking for a finish!

Hawthorne is rocked!

Melondov fakes the body blow, causing Hawthorne to drop his hands! Left hook to the temple! Hawthorne goes stiff, and falls face first into the mat. Goodnight!

Zheko Melondov spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
