Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gordon Hurst!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Smith!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Frank Dennis and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Smith misses the jab.
Nice uppercut lands for Smith. That snapped Hurst's head back.
Hurst ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Hurst feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Smiths jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Smith throws a jab but it's blocked by Hurst.
Hurst tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Smith manages to circle out of the way.
Hurst connects with a leg kick.
Smith misses the jab.
Smith throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Hurst steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Smith.
Hurst ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Smith misses with a wild body shot.
Hurst scores with a body shot.
Hurst uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Smith has time to react.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Hurst bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Hurst digs a good body shot into Smith's ribs.
Hurst tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Smith paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Hurst digs a good hook to Smith's body.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hurst tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Hurst is looking to wear down Smith with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
A slapping body kick lands there for Hurst.
Smith looks winded!
Smith misses with an uppercut.
Smith throws a right hand that misses
and Hurst connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Smith throws a hook but Hurst avoids it easily.
Smith takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Smith throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Smith might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Hurst getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Smith takes one on the button.
Smith on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Smith on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Hurst throws a right and a left that Smith avoids nicely.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Hurst's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Hurst duly obliges.
Hurst scores with a body shot.
Hurst bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hurst lands with a shot to the body.
Smith walks into a left hand.
Hurst scores with a jab to the body.
A cross from Hurst lands.
Hurst throws a good cross that connects.

Smith is rocked!
Hurst changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Hurst jabs at Smith's body.
Smith misses with a straight left.
Hurst scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

Hurst lands a left and a right that send Smith crashing to the mat, dazed. Hurst thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Smith is still on wobbly legs! Can Hurst finish him?
Hurst drops Smith with a huge uppercut! Smith drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes. Hurst is raining down punches and the ref stops the fight! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Gordon Hurst!
Gordon Hurst was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
