The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hampton scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Carvalho has hold of Hampton's hands but Hampton slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Carvalho tries to roll over but Hampton keeps him under control.
Hampton throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Hampton winds up and cracks Carvalho with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Hampton stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Carvalho to get to his feet.
Carvalho throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Hampton throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Hampton staying out of range there.
Carvalho misses with a combination
and Hampton counters with a one-two to the body.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Hampton clinches up against the cage.
Carvalho scores with a shot to the side of Hampton's head.
Hampton is trying to trip Carvalho. He has hold of a leg but Carvalho is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Hampton persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Carvalho looking to hit a scissor sweep but Hampton is one step ahead there.
Hampton with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Hampton decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Hampton has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Hampton decides to return to a standing position.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Hampton moves into range and clinches up with Carvalho.
Carvalho is trying to break the clinch but Hampton has him pressed against the cage.
Carvalho is looking to break free of the clinch but Hampton has double underhooks.
Hampton has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Carvalho clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Hampton gets his hooks in and is throwing strikes.
Carvalho tries to escape but Hampton has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hampton lands with a big left hand that may well have hurt his opponent. Can Carvalho hold on?!
Carvalho takes a big shot to the side of the head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hampton has the hooks in. Carvalho is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Hampton lands a punch to the side of the head from the back.
Carvalho covers up after that shot from Hampton.
Hampton is working the ground and pound. Can Carvalho escape?
The referee is taking a good look at Carvalho as he is on the wrong end of some big shots from Hampton!
Hampton scores with strikes from the back.
Carvalho is rocked!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Carvalho covers up after that shot from Hampton.
