Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Emil Bakke (ranked 4324 p4p, 4293 weight class) and Balder Rasmussen (ranked 534 p4p, 531 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Balder Rasmussen!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Gregory Folan and Elvis Blanc.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bakke shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Rasmussen defends it nicely.
A little jabbing left from Rasmussen on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
A telegraphed right hand from Rasmussen misses the target.
Bakke with a poor takedown
and Rasmussen cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

It looks like Emil Bakke has been cut.
No joy there for Rasmussen, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Bakke shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Rasmussen as he jumps to the side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Emil Bakke. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Bakke shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Rasmussen counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Rasmussen stuffs the takedown attempt from Bakke. Bakke gets slowly back to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rasmussen will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Bakke looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Rasmussen is fending him off so far but Bakke persists. Nope, Rasmussen circles away and we're back to standing.
It seemed like Rasmussen was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Bakke shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Rasmussen lands a slapping body shot.
Bakke is breathing heavily.

Rasmussen gets caught napping as Bakke dives in and scores a takedown. Rasmussen manages to retain guard.
Rasmussen is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Rasmussen is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Rasmussen can do anything to dispel that myth.
Bakke trying to control but Rasmussen is working from the bottom.

Rasmussen is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Nice takedown defense from Rasmussen. No joy for Bakke on that attempt.
Balder Rasmussen is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Bakke takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Bakke shoots in and drives through. Rasmussen sprawls well.

and Rasmussen counters with a left to the body.
Rasmussen misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Bakke gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Rasmussen counters with a two punch combo.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Rasmussen throws a right hand that Bakke ducks under and follows up with a left that Bakke also avoids with ease.
Bakke doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Rasmussen counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Rasmussen is pawing at Bakke, trying to feel the distance before throwing out a cross that crashes into Bakke's nose. Bakke is badly hurt! Rasmussen pounces, throwing wild strikes as both fighters end up on the ground! Bakke tries desperately to hold on but Rasmussen is relentless in his assault! As Bakke receives an ever increasing number of unanswered strikes the referee pulls Rasmussen away and this one is in the books!
