Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Make Makkonen (ranked 2507 p4p, 1582 weight class) and Ghengis Khan (ranked 108 p4p, 73 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Make Makkonen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 8 - 0, fighting out of London, Ghengis Khan!
The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Paulsen Ambrosius and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Khan comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Makkonen looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Makkonen is keen to just control but Khan is a slippery customer.
Khan is controlling Makkonen's trapped leg to prevent Makkonen from advancing to side control.
Khan is staying active underneath Makkonen, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Khan is looking to improve his position.
Makkonen lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Khan keeping hold of Makkonen's head, controlling as best he can.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Makkonen thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Makkonen slips a nice elbow through Khan's hands, connecting with Khan's forehead.
Makkonen is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Khan!

Makkonen misses with a head shot. Khan uses the momentum to regain guard.
Makkonen wants to pass the guard but Khan is keeping the position.
Khan keeping moving, preventing Makkonen from controlling successfully.

Makkonen has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Makkonen throwing strikes from guard but Khan blocks nicely.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Makkonen accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Makkonen wants to control from the top but Khan keeps moving.

Makkonen is working hard here to advance position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Makkonen changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Makkonen shoots in but no luck this time.

Khan closes the distance and pushes Makkonen back into the cage.

Khan gets underhooks to prevent Makkonen's takedown attempt.
Khan lands on the inside with an uppercut.
I was talking to Makkonen's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Khan misses with a body punch.
Makkonen wants a takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Make Makkonen. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Nice body punch from Khan - that landed with a thud.
Makkonen is breathing heavily.
Makkonen being controlled against the cage.
Makkonen is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Khan pulls him back up using the underhooks.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Khan scores with a shoulder strike.
Khan lands with a left to the head.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Khan stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Khan lands a right hand that snaps the head of Makkonen backwards.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Ghengis Khan will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

It looks like Make Makkonen has been cut.
Khan lands a hook to the side of the head.
A short right from Khan.
Makkonen looking for a takedown.
Khan throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Makkonens head.
Makkonen drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Khan gets the underhooks and prevents it.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Khan creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Ghengis Khan seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far.
Khan gets underhooks to prevent Makkonen's takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Make Makkonen. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Khan is pressed up against the cage. Makkonen has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Khan down to the mat. Khan avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Khan jabs at Makkonen's body.
Makkonen's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Khan connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Makkonen scrambles back to his feet.
Khan throws an overhand right that lands on Makkonen's shoulder, as Makkonen tries to avoid the shot.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Makkonen moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Today's fight clock is brought to you by... OOOH that's a huge shot by Khan! Makkonen is in big trouble here - the ref steps in to save him and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:51 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ghengis Khan!
In defeat, Make Makkonen stepped up to the mic, saying 'I broke my back, yeah, my spine. '.
