Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tyler Austin (ranked 4302 p4p, 4305 weight class) and Yiorgyos Argyros (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tyler Austin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Yiorgyos Argyros!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Stewart Dunkirk and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Austin shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Austin is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Austin trying to advance position but Argyros counters by regaining guard.
Austin has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Argyros is proving hard to escape from.
Austin throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Argyros wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Argyros is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Austin pulls out of a head kick attempt.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Left hook, right uppercut from Argyros.

Argyros throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Austin was covering up waiting for the punch and Argyros finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Austin is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Argyros throws a big right hand that misses.
Austin controls Argyros momentarily but Argyros frees himself.
Argyros wants to stand but Austin is controlling his posture from full guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Austin shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Argyros as he jumps to the side.
Austin is breathing heavily.
Argyros throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Argyros feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Argyros stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Argyros closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Austin's guard.
Austin is trying to keep Argyros in close.
Austin being controlled here, momentarily.
Argyros's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Argyros decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Argyros rushes Austin and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Austin drops down looking for an ankle pick but Argyros pulls his leg out and moves away.

Austin is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Argyros is defending well.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tyler Austin. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Austin tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Argyros smiles and moves away.

Argyros must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Argyros is continuing to stall.
Argyros trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Austin manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!

Argyros is looking for a triangle but Austin pushes his legs off easily.

Austin drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Argyros dives on top into guard.

Argyros stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Austin swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Austin is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Argyros stays in close to Austin's body and controls the position.

Argyros has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Austin is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Argyros drops back looking for a leg! Austin is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Austin manages to kick Argyros off! Argyros jumps back into Austin's guard.
Argyros stays in close to Austin's body and controls the position.
Austin wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Argyros is now in half guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Well, if Argyros is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Argyros.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Argyros decides to stand back up. Argyros steps back and let's Austin get back to his feet.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Yiorgyos Argyros showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Argyros tries to land a front kick but Austin steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Argyros darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Well, if Argyros is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Let's hope that Argyros has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Argyros is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Austin doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Argyros.
Austin is trying to maintain the position but Argyros is very close to passing his half guard.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Austin shoots in looking for a takedown. Argyros tries to sprawl out of it but Austin keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Argyros manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Argyros scores with a shot to the body.

Argyros shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Austin's guard.

Austin controls Argyros momentarily but Argyros frees himself.

Austin is working an open guard so Argyros takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Argyros manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Austin on his heels. He'll look to pass Austin's guard now, I'm sure.
Austin wants to get back to his feet but Argyros passes into half guard.

Argyros is thwarting Austin's attempts to control the position.
Argyros is taking a breather. Austin says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Argyros escapes and gets back to his feet.

Argyros closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Austin's guard.
Austin is wriggling around but Argyros manages to pass to half guard.

Argyros is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Austin is just riding it out for now. Argyros eventually gives up the hold.

Yiorgyos Argyros comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Argyros has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
