The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Still in the clinch, Mfer scores with a nice short uppercut.
Susi tries to work over Mfer's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Mfer lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Susi backwards.

Mfer's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Mfer bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Susi uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Mfer has time to react.
Susi throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Mfer throws a hook to the side of Susi's head but Susi sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Mfer lands with a thumping leg kick.
Mfer throws a shot from downtown. Susi moves away and avoids it.
Mfer misses the body punch
and Susi counters with a nice low kick that buckles Mfer's knee momentarily.
Mfer goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Mfer throws out a loose jab but Susi uses good head movement to avoid it.

Susi drops his hands momentarily and Mfer takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Mfer tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Susi is able to avoid easily.
It seemed like Susi was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Mfer moves forwards but Susi connects with a nice, crisp jab.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Mfer tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Susi was well out of range. Poor timing from Mfer.
Mfer is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.

We are yet to see a takedown attempt from Susi in the fight. On paper you would think he is the more dominant ground fighter so let's see if these unusual tactics pay off.

I was talking to Mfer's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
