PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Michael Serrano (ranked 4398 p4p, 24987 weight class) and Tapad Amiga (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tapad Amiga is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Michael Serrano!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tapad Amiga!
The judges for this bout are Percy O'Donnell, Timothy Bukovac and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Serrano fails with a takedown attempt.
Amiga counters with a body kick.
Serrano fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Amiga avoids it really well and circles away.
Amiga is trying to counter with his kicks.
Serrano doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Amiga makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Serrano really felt that one!
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Michael Serrano. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Amiga closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Amiga is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Serrano will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Serrano wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Check out the look on Amiga's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Amiga staying calm.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Amiga's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Serrano is looking for a sweep.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Serrano being controlled for a moment.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Serrano will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Amiga replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Serrano blocks it well.
Serrano looks to score with a jab to the body but Amiga is just out of range.
Amiga takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Serrano.
And Amiga responds with a good body kick, but Serrano manages to step out the way in time.
Serrano fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Serrano rushes Amiga and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Serrano has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Amiga is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.

Amiga gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Serrano wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Amiga manages to pass to side control.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Serrano is trying to stand up here but Amiga is controlling him well.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Tapad Amiga dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Amiga circles away from the clinch attempt
and Amiga counters with a body kick that stops Serrano in his tracks momentarily.
Serrano throws a head kick but Amiga moves out of range.
Serrano wants to clinch
and Amiga counters with a left to the body.
Michael Serrano seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Serrano doesn't succeed with the takedown

so Amiga counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Serrano is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Amiga dives into side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Serrano is letting Amiga control him for a moment.

Serrano is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
You can see the frustration on Serrano's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Serrano tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Serrano is trying to escape the position but Amiga is controlling the position.
Serrano tries to bench press Amiga off him but Amiga keeps the position.
Amiga happy to just control the position for now.
Amiga is continuing to stall.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Serrano is trying to improve his position.
Amiga remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Amiga avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Serrano tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Amiga defends well and Serrano ends up having to push Amiga into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Amiga replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Serrano blocks it well.
Serrano gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Amiga.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Serrano is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Michael Serrano. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Amiga tries for a takedown. No joy.

Serrano drags the fight down to the ground.
Amiga is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Serrano working a defensive guard but Amiga passes into half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Amiga takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Tapad Amiga showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Amiga closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Serrano tries to kick Amiga off in order to stand up. Amiga Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
Serrano wants to get back to his feet but Amiga drags him back down.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Serrano is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Amiga is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Serrano's shoulder. That is not cool.
Tapad Amiga has got the better of the ground game so far.

Serrano throws the kick towards the body but Amiga avoids it.

Amiga changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Serrano looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Serrano tries to bench press Amiga off him but Amiga keeps the position.

Serrano struggling a bit here.
Amiga is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Serrano will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Tapad Amiga is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Michael Serrano has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Tapad Amiga comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Amiga winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
