Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between New Breed One (ranked 658 p4p, 486 weight class) and Robert Grandis (ranked 79 p4p, 61 weight class). Robert Grandis has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with New Breed One's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 24 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, New Breed One!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 27 - 12 - 2, fighting out of Montreal, Robert Grandis!
The judges for this bout are Percy O'Donnell, Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

One feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Grandis keeping moving, preventing One from controlling successfully.
One is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Grandis keeping full guard, as One tries to pass.
One wants to control from the top but Grandis keeps moving.
Grandis bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in One's guard.

Grandis must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Grandis trying to control the position from guard on top but One is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

One is looking for a triangle here but Grandis uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Grandis tries to move to mount but One blocks the move with his legs.
Grandis wants to stand but One has his arm trapped.
One looks to move to half guard but instead Grandis has passed into mount! Damn!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Grandis trying to control but he's not successful this time.
One tries to lock up and control but Grandis gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
One is working to get back to half guard.
One sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

One is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Grandis pulls his head out easily.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
One works his way to full guard. Good work.
One keeping full guard, as Grandis tries to pass.
One is trying to control the position but Grandis postures up.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

One throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Grandis escapes and throws One's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Grandis tries to advance to mount but One denies him.
One tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Grandis wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
One struggling a bit here.
One gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
One wants to control but Grandis is having none of it.

One is controlling an arm, preventing Grandis from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.
One is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
One really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Grandis manages to capitalize on a mistake by One to take his back!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Grandis trying to secure his dominant position for a moment - making sure One doesn't escape.
One is in bad spot here.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
One prevents Grandis from getting a body triangle.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

One misses with a takedown
and Grandis counters with a straight right hand.
New Breed One seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
One is looking to clinch but Grandis is avoiding it.
Grandis swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
One fails in his attempt to clinch.
A nice side step and Grandis releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Grandis avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Grandis doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
Grandis circles away from the clinch attempt.
One tries to clinch but Grandis is having none of it.
Grandis appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
Grandis displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from One.
One shoots in looking for a takedown. Grandis tries to sprawl out of it but One keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Grandis manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for New Breed One. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Grandis counters with a right hand to the body.
Grandis uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before One has time to react.
One looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
One fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
One tries to clinch up but Grandis circles away and keeps his distance.
It seemed like Grandis was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Grandis tries to sprawl but One drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Grandis manages to get to full guard.
One wants to control from the top but Grandis keeps moving.
Grandis is trying to keep One in close.
One tries to free his leg and advance position but Grandis is retaining full guard.

Grandis is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and One defends well.
One scoring with some ground and pound.
One is looking to work some ground and pound but Grandis has wrist control.
Grandis preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
One is in close to Grandis's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Grandis working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from One.
One chips away with some ground and pound.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Grandis lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Grandis would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

One bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Grandis's guard.

One scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
One throwing strikes from guard but Grandis blocks nicely.
One lands a couple of digs.
Grandis is trying to hold One in close to prevent damage but One has managed to pass into half guard.

One is working for a submission of some sort.
Grandis wants to get back to his feet.

One is trying to control the action in half guard but Grandis is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
One thows a huge punch but Grandis dodges it nicely.
Grandis keeps control of the position for the meantime.
Grandis is trying to defend against the ground and pound but One scores with a couple of nice shots.
Grandis has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

One is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Grandis defends it well.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

One is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Grandis has managed to free his arm - good work.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Robert Grandis will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!

One shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Grandis but Grandis pushes him off and we're back to square one.

One closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - One lands in his opponent's guard.

One stands and throws Grandis's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Grandis takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

One controlling the position from side mount.
One trying to control the position but Grandis is working away.

One working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

One goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Grandis rolls with the submission and now he's on top in One's guard! Nice work there by Grandis!

One looking for a guillotine here but Grandis defends easily.
One wants to sweep here but Grandis controlling him for the moment.
Grandis postures up.
Grandis sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed One's guard.

Grandis seems to be working for a kimura but One defends the submission attempt.
Grandis prevents One from improving his position.
Grandis is keen to just control but One is a slippery customer.

Grandis seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but One does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
New Breed One has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

One looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

One looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
New Breed One overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
One trying to get back to full guard but Grandis takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!
Grandis is trying to stand up but he's being controlled by his opponent.
Grandis trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
One is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to New Breed One.
I think Grandis has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
