Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rob Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Salvatore Coppola!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Jorge Garcia and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight stays on the outside here - Coppola looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Smith is looking to counter punch.
We've been told by Smith's head coaches at NY Savages that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Coppola thows a leg kick but Smith checks it

and Smith decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Coppola's guard.
Smith is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Smith has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Coppola is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Smith slips nicely into half guard.
Coppola is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Smith scores with a couple of nice shots.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Smith drops an elbow to the side of Coppola's head.
Coppola is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Coppola has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Smith can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Coppola is looking to cinch up a triangle. Smith throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Coppola's body to avoid the submission. Coppola has instead reached around Smith's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Coppola arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Salvatore Coppola!
