PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Leroy Williams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dave Ming Chang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Williams kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Ambitions Az A Ryder. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Leroy Williams!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Dave Ming Chang!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Daniel Bishop and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ming Chang changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Williams looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Ming Chang wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Williams, who protects the arm well.

Ming Chang is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Williams has escaped the position, nice work there.
Williams regains half guard.
Ming Chang looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Williams with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Williams makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Williams.
Williams keeping moving, preventing Ming Chang from controlling successfully.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Williams wants to sweep but no luck.
Ming Chang trying to control the position from guard on top but Williams is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Williams has his foot on Ming Chang's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Ming Chang works his way back into a safe position though.

Ming Chang is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Ming Chang wants to stand and escape but instead Williams has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Ming Chang had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Williams is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Ming Chang Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Williams's back instead.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Williams is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Williams breaks Ming Chang's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Ming Chang manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Ming Chang is working for a guillotine from mount but Williams frees his head quite easily.

Ming Chang tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Ming Chang is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Williams has managed to free his arm - good work.

Ming Chang seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Williams does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Williams tries to roll over but Ming Chang keeps him under control.

Ming Chang is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Williams doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Ming Chang.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dave Ming Chang dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Ming Chang throws out a powerful jab.

Ming Chang feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Ming Chang wants to control from the top but Williams keeps moving.

Williams looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Ming Chang passes into half guard.
Williams is staying active underneath Ming Chang, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Williams is in trouble now - Ming Chang has advanced to mount!
Ming Chang can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Williams is looking to escape.

Ming Chang has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Williams's face.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Leroy Williams is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Ming Chang fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Williams sprawls well initially but Ming Chang persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Ming Chang is looking to advance position but Williams won't allow it.
Ming Chang is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Ming Chang shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Ming Chang is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Williams defends it well.

Ming Chang lands with a nice combination. Williams backs away looking to recover.
Leroy Williams seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Ming Chang closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Dave Ming Chang has got the better of the ground game so far.

Ming Chang stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Williams gets caught flat footed, as Ming Chang shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Ming Chang tries to stand but Williams is controlling from the bottom.
Ming Chang stands and throws Williams's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Ming Chang wants to lay and pray for a moment but Williams keeps working.
Williams tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Ming Chang in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Williams is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
